There are moments in life that quietly change everything.
Mine happened during the pandemic.
After twenty years of photographing conferences, portraits, and events around the world, my business came to a sudden stop. Instead of waiting for work to return, I packed a small trailer, pointed my truck west, and spent months wandering the back roads of the American West with no assignment, no deadline, and no destination beyond curiosity.
That journey reminded me why I picked up a camera in the first place.
I discovered that the places most people drive past often held the stories I wanted to tell. Forgotten motels. Working ranches. Empty highways. Small towns. Quiet churches. Landscapes large enough to remind us how small we really are.
Today my work explores the places where history, labor, landscape, and memory continue to shape the American West. Through large-scale limited edition prints and one-of-one encaustic works, I hope to encourage people to slow down, wander farther, and rediscover a West that still exists for those willing to look.
Alongside my fine art practice, I continue to work as a professional photographer for national conferences and organizations. That work has taken me across the United States and around the world, but it is always the American West that calls me home.
